Coffee People

Coffee People coffee originated in Eugene, Oregon, where small amounts of specialty coffee were roasted and offered for sale. In 1983, the first Coffee People coffeehouse was opened in Portland, Oregon. Dietrich Coffee acquired Coffee People about 10 years ago and their union has been successful, based on the rich authentic coffee heritage of both companies. Coffee People’s originality in naming their different roasts can best be described as a creative bid for attention. While most roasters choose rather “tame” or even boring names and descriptions for their coffees, Coffee People names their coffees with a great sense of humor and a tongue-in-cheek outrageousness.

How about a cup of “Jet Fuel” for the road, or “Black Tiger Bold”? It is truly bold coffee for bold people. “Cowboy Coffee” brings to mind coffee being brewed over a campfire, while “Donut Shop” has us beginning to taste the soft sugar on our favorite donut. We are encouraged to “explore the dark side” by drinking earthy Coffee People coffee.

At Coffee People, roasting as an art form. Each type of coffee reaches its own optimum flavor in a particular stage of the roasting process. This process must be done with exacting care, so as to develop the perfect flavor.
